Humble in Origin - Nomadic in Spirit
The Road to Le Mans
Humble Nomad Automotive exists to build lightweight, mechanically honest sports cars — and to take them motor racing.
Founded by Paul Smith in North Yorkshire, the company begins not with venture capital or corporate backing, but with spanners, donor cars and a clear objective: to progress from grassroots kit-car builds to prototype endurance racing, and ultimately to the grid at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
This is not a styling exercise or a speculative brand. It is an engineering journey.
Our early platforms — from donor-based builds through to the HN1 prototype — are part of a deliberate progression. We focus on low-volume, four-wheeled cars designed for road and track use, prioritising structural integrity, mechanical simplicity and driver engagement over electronic complexity. Cars are manufactured in the North of England and developed through real-world use: track days, test mileage and competitive motorsport. Racing is not an afterthought; it is the proving ground.
The long-term ambition is clear: to design and construct our own LMP3 machinery and compete in endurance racing at European level. Success in the European Le Mans Series would, in time, earn the right to accept an invitation to Le Mans — in the spirit of the gentleman (and lady) driver, properly prepared.
The dream is significant. The starting point is humble. Between the two lies disciplined iteration, transparent learning, and the steady accumulation of engineering capability.
